The United Nations Global Program on Essential Services for Women and Girls Subject to Violence is a collaborative initiative between UN Women, UNFPA, WHO, UNDP and UNODC, which aims to provide greater access to a coordinated set of essential and multisectoral quality services for all women and girls who have experienced gender-based violence.
The Program identifies the essential services to be provided by the health, social and judicial sectors, as well as guidelines for the coordination of Essential Services and the governance of coordination processes and mechanisms. In order to ensure high-quality service delivery to women and girls subjected to violence, especially in low- and middle-income countries, specific guidelines have been identified for the core elements of each essential service. Together, all these elements make up the “Essential Services Package”.
